QUESTION: Is there anything that I may have in my house that you cannot put in the moving van?

ANSWER: Yes.  For a complete list of these items, read our what not to pack page.

QUESTION: Why is the drive time multiplied by two on local moves?

ANSWER: We are required to by law, actually.  The idea is that by doubling the drive time, you are paying for the time it would take us to drive back to the original location.  For example, if you were moving from Clovis to Madera, it would cover the time to drive back to Clovis.  This is the only drive time you pay for.

QUESTION: Do you accept debit/credit?

ANSWER: For moves and other services provided by DW Ewing Movers, debit/credit payments are not accepted at this time.  We only accept cash, check, or money order.

QUESTION: Is an estimate an obligation to use D.W. Ewing Movers?

ANSWER: No, an estimate is nothing more than an estimate.  There is no obligation to use D.W. Ewing Movers for your move.  If you do decide to use us though, we guarantee that you will not have to pay more than the amount on the estimate, as long as no changes are made.

QUESTION: Do dresser drawers need to be emptied?

ANSWER: Typically, if it is just full of clothes or soft items, it is okay to leave them full, but keep in mind that the item may have to be tilted or possibly put on its side.  Do not leave anything in that may spill or break.  Also, if the furniture piece is rather fragile or antique, or if it will be going up or down stairs, it may be a good idea to unload at least part of the drawers.

QUESTION: Do refrigerators and freezers need to be emptied?

ANSWER: Yes, they must be emptied prior to being loaded on the truck.

QUESTION: Do I need to rent furniture moving blankets/pads?

ANSWER: Our company supplies everything needed to protect your items while in our care, so you do not need to supply any moving blankets for moves that will be completed by D.W. Ewing Movers.  If you will be renting your own truck and are just having us load your items for you, then you will also need to rent blankets and straps from the truck rental agency, along with purchasing rope for tying off items in your truck.  If you will be putting your items into a self-storage, you will want to have something to cover and protect your goods, especially if items will have to be stacked in the unit.  You may choose to use personal sheets or blankets, moving blankets purchased from local hardware stores, or you can purchase paper pads from our company.  We would just need to know in advance so we can bring some with us.
